Sharon Osbourne recently defended her friend Piers Morgan after controversial debate on Good Morning Britain after Piers made ‘’controversial’’ comments regarding Meghan Markle’s mental health, and made his opinion against her known after calling her out for the ‘’racist’’ comments the Royal Family have been accused of making.

After Piers had walked off set of the morning breakfast show, and then made his exit off the show for good, many of his celebrity friends showed their support for the journalist, Sharon Osbourne being one of those close to him. Unfortunately for Sharon, since defending her pal she has received quite a lot of backlash regarding the tweet she wrote to show her support, the tweet read

”@piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth. ”

Sharon also defended Piers on chat show ‘’The Talk’’ which she has been a host on for 11 years. She defended him when her co-host, Sheryl Underwood tried to ‘understand’ where Sharon was coming from, and went on to explain why Piers was in the wrong, and how many people had complained about him, therefore her supporting Piers gave ‘validation’ to what he said, and it doesn’t reflect well on Sharon.

Sheryl went on to explain how Pier’s dismissiveness is a form of racism in itself, and how it is not necessarily what he has said, but the way in which he addressed it. ‘’If Piers doesn’t like someone and they happen to be Black, does that make him a racist? Why can’t it be he just doesn’t like her?’’ said Sharon in her argument supporting him. Many agree with Mrs Osbourne, however there are also many people who continue to find that offensive. In fact, it has just been announced that Sharon will not be joining back as a host on 12th April when ‘’ The Talk’’ airs again after a short break assessing what happened, the statement by CBS read how Sharon’s behaviour towards co-hosts ‘’did not align with their values for a respectful workplace’’.

Sharon has responded and apologised to fans of the show, and those who were offended by her comments, ‘’I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive and allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over’’, moving onwards with the show (airing 12th April) hosts, producers, and crew who work on the show have taken ‘’workshops, listening sessions and had training about equity, inclusion and cultural awareness’’ to prevent this type of heated debate happening again.

Piers Morgan however, has now hit back himself saying that Sharon was ‘’bullied’’ out of her role on the show, and has criticised CBS in his mail online column. The fun never stops when Piers is involved!
