Tamika Palmer, the mother of Breonna Taylor has made several statements about the injustice of her daughter’s case following the grand jury’s decision to not indict the officers that shot into the home of Taylor as she slept. In a statement to the press, Breonna’s mother said the attorney general “had the power to do the right thing. He had the power to start the healing of this city. [He] helped me realize…it will always be us against them. That we are never safe when it comes to them”. She continued by saying she has “no faith in the legal system, in the police, in the laws that are not made to protect us Black and brown people. You didn’t just rob me and my family, you robbed the world of a queen… a queen who was starting to pave her path”. Palmer, also shared an image of Taylor on Instagram with the caption “It’s still Breonna Taylor for me”. Then she wrote #ThesystemfailedBreonna along with a broken heart emoji.
