‘Dear Readers’ Get ready for season 2 of Bridgerton with 4 new cast members

A Netflix show about love, sex and match making, with exquisite outfits and a splash of drama (no, it’s not love island), Bridgerton has already been a massive hit with its first season released in late December.
Based on romance novels, with its devilishly good-looking actors and actresses, the second series has been confirmed, aiming to be based around Antony Bridgerton’s life, who is played by Jonathan Bailey.

What else have the Shondaland producers got up their sleeve for the second chapter of this well – loved period drama?

Unfortunately, much to beloved fans of the show’s disappointment, heart throb and one of the main men of the show, the Duke of Hastings, played by charming Rege-Jean Page, announced last Friday that he will not be returning to the show and sadly it wasn’t an April fools’ joke either. Many fans expressed their disappointment from the announcement, taking to Twitter and Facebook.

However, their disappointment didn’t last for long when the Bridgerton Twitter account informed viewers that there will be 4 brand new cast members joining the series. They announced the news in true Lady Whistledown style,

But who are they and where may you have seen them before? (from left to right)
Firstly, we have Charitha Chandran who will be playing Edwina Sharma (Kate’s younger sister), as well as Shelley Conn who will be playing Kate and Edwina’s mother. You may know Conn from show Liar. Kate is going to be played by Simone Ashley, who is well known for her role in Sex Education, another Netflix series.

We also have 2 new men of the show! Calam Lynch, playing Theo Sharpe, a hardworking printers assistant. Calam has appeared in Derry Girls previously with fellow co-star Nicola Coughlan, (who plays Penelope Featherington) and lastly Rupert Young, Rupert Young who will be playing newcomer Jack who Shondaland say will have ‘’a connection to one of its most notable families’’ which is ever so intriguing.

Filming for the second series will begin this Spring, so keep your eyes peeled for the next instalment of Lady Whistledown’s tell – all tales.
