A helicopter crashes in Calabasas.
Everybody, fan or not, was glued to the television screen, stunned about what they heard that morning.
“ Good Afternoon from New York with breaking news very sad news, to tell the sports world the LA Times is reporting that retired Los Angeles Basketball player Kobe Bryant has been killed in a helicopter crash this morning, The helicopter went down around ten o clock eastern time in Calabasas, California…” said Kate from NBC News
Shortly, another wave of shock comes when it reported his daughter was with her on the helicopter along with eight others.
“Then the final blow, his lovely daughter was on the helicopter. I am sick even more… every time I saw his lovely wife and kids, I said hello I am uncle Shaq, and I would try to make them laugh,” said Shaquille O’Neal
A distraught O’Neal recounts his NBA teammate and old friend,” now, we cant joke with him at his hall of fame speech saying, I got five and we got four.”
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of fame has created a unique exhibit to memorialize the late Kobe Bryant.
The exhibit was put together with help from Vanessa Bryant, the trading card company Panini, and various other companies.
“It almost feels to me like it is the what’s next, what could have been for Kobe,” said John Doleva, President and Ceo.
Kobe isn’t being inducted into the hall of fame alone, but with Tim Duncan, Spurs superstar, and Kevin Garnett, part of Celtics Big three.
Duncan and Garnett, two fellow Hall of Famers in admiration, had a lot to say about their decades-long nemesis on the court.
Your greatest competition brings the best out of you,” Duncan said “ I think that’s what I appreciate about remembering playing against him and being on the court with him.
A fierce Competitor and always demanding more of him and his teammates than probably was possible. But he wanted to win that much, he wanted it that much, and it was an honor to share the court with him.” said Garnett
On Sportscenter’s Twitter, they gave a sneak peek of the exhibit. The exhibit featured black and white photos of the legend in his prime with his jersey and shoes inshrined in light-up cases.
The pictures showed very iconic moments in his career, a blast from the past, hinting of a future if given a chance. Now we can say a piece of his life remains with us and encapsulated into eternity forever. Rest in Peace, Kobe Bryant
