Former Primark employee reveals meaning of ‘Code 2’

Former Primark employee, George Allen, has spoken out about the behind the scenes of what it is like to work there, in particular telling the Derby Telegraph what ‘code 2’ means.

Whilst you’ve been shopping for your must – have buys and basic bits, ever heard ‘’cleaner to menswear, code 2’’, for example?

It is usually said so the cleaning staff expect a bodily fluid to clean up, in particular, the men’s changing rooms.

‘’Urine and faeces on the shop floor is pretty common. There are different cryptic announcements via the speakers’’ says George.

George did have some handy advice for you Primark shoppers though, ‘’ if you want a customer discount at Primark, it’s very easy… an item with any kind of slight fault or mark gets 10% knocked off without debate if they ask for it’’ however he did go on to say that if you take it too far you will end up in the ‘’book of faces’’ … blank

But what is the ‘’book of faces’’?

Apparently behind the customer services desk there is a thick folder full of CCTV close – ups of customers who have stolen, conned or other badly behaved acts in the store.

‘’I still see some of those culprits walking around the city and I wonder if they know of their notoriety’’
Well, you heard it from George first…happy shopping but within reason!

Remember as well, although Covid regulations have stopped Primark and many other retailers still encourage the use of face masks.

Keep safe!
