Recently there have been reports that the British Film Institute has taken legal action against a Black Lives Matter activist, Alisha Hall.
Hall, aged 41, has been allegedly accused of knowing the whereabouts of ‘missing’ scholarship money of a total of £216,000.
The money was intended for the London Film Festival which took place in October 2021, with a list of Hollywood stars in attendance.
The donation was of such high importance that she was even mentioned as part of the Institute’s as the annual report.
Hall is a member of the Liberation Initiatives, and a spokesperson has commented on the situation as the legal process begins:
‘We are extremely proud of the work we do for marginalised communities in the UK, and the support we have provided over the years to a variety of community groups, Black entrepreneurs, and creatives.
‘In light of the legal process underway, it would be inappropriate to comment further other than to say we do not believe the BFI’s complaint has merit and we look forward to making our case in court.’
The date of the court date is still currently unknown.
