Meghan Markle’s 40th birthday – 40×40 project

On the 4th August it was Meghan Markle’s 40th birthday, and to mark the occasion she shared her latest project.

Meghan shared the video with the help of comedian and actress, Melissa McCarthy.

The project is called the ‘40×40’ project, asking 40 women to dedicate 40 minutes of their day to talk to, and help, woman across the world who are going back to work after the pandemic.

The individuals that are involved are high profile celebrities, with the likes of Adele and fashion designer Stella McCartney being just 2 out of the 40 that are taking part.

However, in true Meghan Markle style, nothing she does is ever done without backlash, and this time people are calling her out for using this project as a so – called publicity stunt, rather than having a true passion for helping others, and using her platform for a good cause.

Even on her birthday, she is trying to help others and reach out to those who need it, and instead of praising her, people are pointing out that these woman in need of help, ‘’need mentors not celebrities’’.

Karren Brady, successful businesswoman who is best known from The Apprentice, has spoken out defending Meghan:

“Some are calling it a publicity stunt, but still, what a brilliant line-up of women she has queuing to help other women”

Karren makes a point of highlighting the fact that tens of millions of people around the world have lost their jobs during the pandemic, so this could be exactly what they need, someone to talk too when they thought they couldn’t speak out.

This isn’t the first time that Meghan has spoken out about the needs of woman, in particular throughout, and after, the pandemic, so she is not a stranger to helping others and using her status and presence, in a positive light.
